Recap: Sanford-Fritch Eagles vs. Dimmitt Bobcats
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Texline, the Sanford-Fritch Eagles were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They came out on top against Dimmitt by a score of 59-49. Given Sanford-Fritch's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 594th, while Dimmitt is ranked 1269th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Bobcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Frankie Cortez, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. The matchup was Cortez's third in a row with at least ten points. Mario Lopez was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 7 steals and 6 rebounds.
Sanford-Fritch now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Dimmitt, they bumped their record down to 1-4 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Sanford-Fritch will be playing at home against Miami at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dimmitt, they will square off against Groom at 10:10 a.m. on Saturday.
