Softball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Valley View

Valley View waltzed into their contest on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They never let the Valencia Tigers get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Valley View got a great performance from Giselle Morales as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Morales has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Destiny Mendoza and Alyssa Torres did most of the damage at the plate: Mendoza went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Torres got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI Torres has posted since back in February. Maddie Barrios was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Valley View hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive matchups.

Valley View's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Valencia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley View will face off against Poly at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Valley View 1.4, Poly 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Valencia, they will challenge Buena Park at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
