Baseball Game Preview: United Golden Eagles vs. David Anderson Blue Devils

United is a perfect 5-0 against David Anderson since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Golden Eagles will challenge the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. United will be strutting in after a victory while David Anderson will be coming in after a defeat.

United is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over Heartland Christian on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Parker Newburn, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Kadin Schonauer also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Newburn wasn't the only one making solid contact: United kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for the Golden Eagles: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 8.8.

Meanwhile, David Anderson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Columbiana.

Marc Moore was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Devin Kelly, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

United pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for David Anderson, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. United has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like David Anderson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

United took their win against David Anderson in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
