Preview: Crosspoint Warriors vs. Mount Vernon Christian Hurricanes
The Crosspoint Warriors just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Mount Vernon Christian Hurricanes at 3:45 p.m. on December 29th. One thing working in Crosspoint's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
Crosspoint has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 36 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Grace Academy 73-4 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Crosspoint has managed all season.
Crosspoint relied on the efforts of Halle Kuske, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and six steals, and Riya Tobosa, who scored 12 points along with five steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her. Katy Kuske was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Mount Vernon Christian had to kick off their season on the road two weeks ago, but they showed no ill effects. They really took it to Orcas Island for the full four quarters, racking up a 61-21 win on the road. With Mount Vernon Christian ahead 33-10 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Crosspoint's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Mount Vernon Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Crosspoint was taken down by Mount Vernon Christian 63-22 when the teams last played back in February. Thankfully for Crosspoint, Caitlin VanderKooy (who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
