Soccer Game Preview: Claremont vs. Walnut

The Claremont Wolfpack will venture away from home to face off against the Walnut Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Claremont fell victim to Upland and their airtight defense on Monday. They came up short against the Highlanders/Scots, falling 3-0. The Wolfpack have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Walnut). They blew past Pomona 9-0 on Thursday. With that win, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 3 goals per game.

Their offense was hitting Pomona from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Paul Acosta led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by himself.

Walnut's victory bumped their record up to 6-0-2. As for Claremont, they now have a losing record at 1-2-1.

Everything went Claremont's way against Walnut in their previous meeting back in December of 2021, as Claremont made off with a 3-0 win. Does Claremont have another victory up their sleeve, or will Walnut turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
