Basketball Recap: Monday's Loss Ends Deep Creek's Winning Streak

After flying high against Gainesville last Saturday, Deep Creek came back down to earth. The Deep Creek Hornets fell to the King's Fork Bulldogs 53-47. The Hornets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 70-44.

Several Hornets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alaya Monroe, who posted 20 points. That's the most points Monroe has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Morgan Herbert, who scored ten points.

Deep Creek moved to 9-5 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for King's Fork, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Deep Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 82-31 victory against Grassfield on the 28th. King's Fork has also already played their next contest, a 62-29 win against Lakeland on the 28th.
