Basketball Recap: Westlake Now 10-3 over Last 13 Games

Westlake had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Buckeye Bucks as they made off with a 41-19 victory. Given the Demons' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while the Bucks are ranked 495th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Westlake got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was JaCaia Onunwor out in front who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 boards gave Onunwor a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Henton, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Westlake has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Buckeye, they moved to 9-12 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westlake will take on Bay at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Buckeye, they will challenge Normandy at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
