Southern Lee had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They had just enough and edged out the Overhills Jaguars 47-44. The Cavaliers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Jaguars on Friday, too.

Despite the loss, Overhills still got an impressive performance from Demelvin Steele, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Zachiah Chalmers, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 10 points and three steals.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern Lee will challenge Westover at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Overhills, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against Harnett Central at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
