Cornerstone Christian's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Norton Science & Language Academy Rockets a 21-0 shutout. Considering the Crusaders have won 16 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Dylan Kelly and Jayden Soto made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Kelly pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Soto pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Kelly went 4-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs, while Soto went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, Kelly is now averaging an impressive 1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, David Meinardus and Josh May did most of the damage at the plate: Meinardus went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while May went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run was Meinardus' first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alec O'Sullivan, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Cornerstone Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .703. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Cornerstone Christian is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.9 runs over those games. As for Norton Science & Language Academy, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-11.
Coincidentally, Cornerstone Christian and Norton Science & Language Academy will both be playing Crossroads Christian the next time they take the field. The Crusaders will host the Warriors at 2:45 a.m. on Friday, while the Rockets will host them at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
