Baseball Game Preview: New Berlin West Vikings vs. St. Thomas More Cavaliers

The New Berlin West Vikings will take on the St. Thomas More Cavaliers on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

New Berlin West is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They beat St. Catherine's by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 23-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Meanwhile, St. Thomas More owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. Everything went their way against Racine Lutheran/Prairie as they made off with a 9-0 victory.

Manny Sostre made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Ethan Rudolph was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Luke Mrazek was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

New Berlin West's win bumped their record up to 12-10. As for St. Thomas More, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season.

Everything went New Berlin West's way against St. Thomas More in their previous meeting back in June of 2024, as New Berlin West made off with a 10-4 victory. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Cavaliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
