Baseball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

It was a Battle of the Birds when Independence faced off against Bakersfield Christian on Wednesday. The Falcons came up short against the Eagles, falling 10-4. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Independence saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Baralt Portillo, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Bakersfield Christian, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 16-6-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Eagles beat Independence by a score of 10-4 on Friday.
