Baseball Game Preview: Knox Redskins vs. Bremen Lions

For the second straight game, Knox will face off against Bremen. The Redskins will head out to face off against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Knox is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Bremen hit Knox with a six-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Redskins came up short against the Lions, falling 11-2. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 17, 2017, but that streak is no more.

For Bremen's part, JJ Cencelewski made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Cencelewski has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 11 matchups.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Silas Laidig, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Preston Williams was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Bremen and bumps their season record up to 12-8-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Knox, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
