Preview: Overhills Jaguars vs. Pine Forest Trojans
Overhills has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Overhills Jaguars and the Pine Forest Trojans will face off at 8:00 p.m. on January 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pine Forest took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Overhills, who comes in off a win.
Overhills posted their biggest win since December 5, 2023 on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Harnett Central as Overhills made off with a 59-39 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Overhills has posted against Harnett Central since November 24, 2021.
Deshaun Barton was the offensive standout of the match as he scored 19 points along with six assists and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ej Stokes, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Pine Forest suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Richmond, falling 79-33. Pine Forest has struggled against Richmond recently, as their game on Wednesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Fredrick Logan put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored four points along with six rebounds.
Overhills now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Pine Forest, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.
Overhills barely slipped by Pine Forest when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 70-69. Will Overhills repeat their success, or does Pine Forest have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
