Volleyball Recap: Diana Valenzuela Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Gadsden

While Chaparral's win against Gadsden wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lobos skirted past the Panthers 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lobos have posted since November 2, 2024.

Chaparral got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-19, 28-30, 18-25, 15-13.

Chaparral's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Diana Valenzuela, who had 46 digs and one assist. What's more, Valenzuela posted two kills, the most she's had over her last two matchups. Another player making a difference was Kassandra Aguilera, who had 18 digs and one assist.

Chaparral's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-10. As for Gadsden, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chaparral will take on Carlsbad at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Gadsden, they will face off against Deming at 6:00 p.m. on October 2.
