Softball Recap: Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart Triumphs

Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart hadn't done well against Springfield recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 victory over the Tigers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 1-0 two weeks ago.

Sadie Kirtz was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Elsie Rudeen also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Springfield only managed nine hits.

The win got Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart back to even at 6-6. As for Springfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart will venture away from home to face off against New Ulm Cathedral at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Springfield, they will head out to take on Windom at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
