Baseball Recap: Central Gets the Win

Central took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Jacobs, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rockets narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Eagles 6-4.

Tyler Kotwica made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Central is 3-1-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-12-1 otherwise. Kotwica was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Liam Schultz, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Thomas Koertgen also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Central's record now sits at 10-13-2. As for Jacobs, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Central will square off against Crystal Lake Central at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Jacobs, they will face off against Crystal Lake South at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Gators will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
