Basketball Recap: Dudley Takes a Loss

If Dudley was riding high fresh off their 54-12 takedown of Atkins last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dudley Panthers took a 58-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ben L. Smith Golden Eagles on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 89th).

Ben L. Smith's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amani Williams, who posted 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalicia DeBerry, who put up 17 points.

Dudley's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Ben L. Smith, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.

Dudley has already played their next game, a 57-32 victory against Northeast Guilford on the 4th. As for Ben L. Smith, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-26 win against Southern Guilford on the 4th.
