Softball Recap: Donovan Has No Trouble Against Momence

Donovan won the last time they faced Momence and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Wildcats blew past the Momence Athletics 12-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Laylah Lou Walters spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madelyn Loy was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Haley Cavanaugh also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Donovan's record now sits at 4-8. As for Momence, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Donovan will challenge Hoopeston at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cornjerkers have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Momence, they will face off against Milford at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
