Basketball Recap: Fillmore Takes a Loss

Fillmore lost against Santa Paula back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Fillmore Flashes were dealt an 81-51 loss at the hands of the Santa Paula Cardinals.

Despite the defeat, Fillmore had strong showings from Octavio Orozco, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, and Jaime Soto, who posted ten points. The dominant performance also gave Soto a new career-high in blocks (two). Marco Robles was another key player, putting up four points.

Fillmore has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season. As for Santa Paula, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Fillmore didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 90-67 win against Malibu on the 30th. Santa Paula has also already played their next game, a 75-68 loss against Carpinteria on the 31st.
