Football Game Preview: Somerville Pioneers vs. North Hunterdon Lions

The Somerville Pioneers are taking a road trip to face off against the North Hunterdon Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Somerville will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Somerville and Summit had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Pioneers blew past the Hilltoppers 41-20 on Saturday. The Pioneers haven't had any issues with the Hilltoppers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Somerville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dylan Boehm, who threw for 349 yards and four TDs while completing 80% of his passes. Aidan Vesuvio-Bush was another key player, gaining 149 total yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for North Hunterdon, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They strolled past Monroe Township with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 30-12. The Lions' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

North Hunterdon's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Somerville, their record now sits at 5-1.

Everything came up roses for Somerville against North Hunterdon in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 56-7 victory. In that contest, the Pioneers amassed a halftime lead of 50-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
