Basketball Game Preview: Rockford Christian Royal Lions vs. Lutheran Crusaders

Rockford Christian is 0-10 against Lutheran since January of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Rockford Christian Royal Lions will welcome the Lutheran Crusaders at 5:30 p.m. Rockford Christian is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

Last Friday, Rockford Christian earned a 53-40 victory over Genoa-Kingston. That's two games straight that the Royal Lions have won by exactly 13 points.

Rockford Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josie Becker, who posted 21 points and six rebounds. Shea Ludwig was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Dixon and fell 57-30. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Dukes & Duchesses are ranked 42nd).

Rockford Christian has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Lutheran, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-7.

Things could have been worse for Rockford Christian, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-45 loss to Lutheran in their previous matchup back in December of 2024.
