Baseball Recap: Bonita Vista Has No Trouble Against San Ysidro

Bonita Vista extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 9-13 in the process. They put the hurt on the San Ysidro Cougars with a sharp 12-1 win. That looming 12-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Barons yet this season.

NICO CHAVEZ looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Bonita Vista got a massive performance out of KENSEN JOHNSON, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI JOHNSON has posted since back in March. TYLER MAULA also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Bonita Vista kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

As for San Ysidro, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this contest were averaging 4.09 runs allowed.

On San Ysidro's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Axel Reyes, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Bonita Vista will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
