Softball Preview: Atchison Phoenix vs. Wyandotte Bulldogs

Atchison is 3-0 against Wyandotte since April of 2023, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Atchison Phoenix will head out on the road to take on the Wyandotte Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Atchison is looking to tack on another W to their ten-game streak on the road dating back to last season.

In what's become a running theme this season, Atchison gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Washington with a sharp 15-8 win.

Makenzie Weedon-Jacobs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Weedon-Jacobs has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances. Weedon-Jacobs was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, SaRae Johnson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Jadyn Boldridge, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, neither Wyandotte nor Highland Park made it onto the board last Wednesday thanks to some airtight pitching. Wyandotte and Highland Park finished up their matchup with a 0-0 tie.

Atchison's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. Wyandotte's draw gives them a new season record of 1-6-1.

Everything went Atchison's way against Wyandotte in their previous matchup back in April as Atchison made off with a 20-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Atchison since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
