Softball Recap: Greencastle-Antrim Wins Going Away Against James Buchanan

Greencastle-Antrim had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt James Buchanan on Wednesday. Greencastle-Antrim put the hurt on James Buchanan with a sharp 18-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Kiersten Swain looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Meadow Gambacurta was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kylie Kerns, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Greencastle-Antrim kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matchups.

Greencastle-Antrim pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for James Buchanan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Greencastle-Antrim will be playing at home against Bermudian Springs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Bermudian Springs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Greencastle-Antrim surely won't give up without a fight. As for James Buchanan, they will head out on the road to take on Delone Catholic at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. James Buchanan's pitchers better be ready for this one: Delone Catholic has averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
