Basketball Recap: Sesser-Valier/Waltonville Comes Up Short

Sesser-Valier/Waltonville has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Trico Pioneers. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Red Devils came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while the Pioneers are ranked 413th).

Sesser-Valier/Waltonville's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Trico, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sesser-Valier/Waltonville will be home for the holidays to greet Hamilton County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Trico, they will host Marissa/Coulterville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Marissa/Coulterville's defense has only allowed 27.9 points per game this season, so Trico's offense will have their work cut out for them.
