Baseball Game Preview: Lockport Lions vs. Kenmore East Bulldogs

The Lockport Lions will square off against the Kenmore East Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Lockport came up short against Niagara Falls and fell 7-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Wolverines: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, Kenmore East waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They skirted past the Lancers 5-3. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly two runs.

Erik Freeman made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Kenmore East is 5-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4 otherwise. Freeman was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Freeman wasn't the only one making solid contact as eight players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Connor Lembke, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Lembke has brought in this season.

Lockport's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Kenmore East, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.

Lockport came out on top in a nail-biter against Kenmore East in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 8-7. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
