Basketball Game Preview: Morgan Eagles vs. Bynum Bulldogs

The Morgan Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Bynum Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Morgan has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while Bynum will arrive with three straight wins.

Morgan is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Covington on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Morgan was dealt a 57-18 loss at the hands of Covington. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Bynum was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Blum 67-23. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Bynum's win came from a few key players Morgan will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Chris Howell, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Castro, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 17 points.

Bynum smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Bynum's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.8 points per game. As for Morgan, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Morgan was able to grind out a solid win over Bynum when the teams last played back in December of 2022, winning 41-31. Will Morgan repeat their success, or does Bynum have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
