Basketball Recap: Newport Central Catholic Comes Up Short

Newport Central Catholic lost against Highlands back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds fell 59-50 to the Highlands Bluebirds.

Newport Central Catholic has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-16 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points over those games. The win was the third in a row for Highlands, bringing their record for this year to 21-8.

As of now, neither Newport Central Catholic nor Highlands have any future games scheduled.
