On Atkins' side, Aniston Pennington made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Pennington was even better at the plate, scoring five runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5.
In other batting news, Lily Anderson was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Ava Fleming, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and a triple.
High Point Central now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Atkins, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-9.
