Baseball Game Preview: Southern Academy Cougars vs. Clarke Prep Gators

For the second straight game, Southern Academy will face off against Clarke Prep. The Cougars will head out to take on the Gators at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Southern Academy is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Clarke Prep just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 5-2 to the Gators. The Cougars were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the four contests prior), but the Gators' pitcher proved too tough.

Brayden Hennigan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Wyatt Martin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Patrick Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with one triple.

Southern Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Clarke Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
