Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marshall). Everything went their way against the Hastings Saxons on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-1 win. The Redhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by eight runs or more this season.
Colin Stealy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Marshall let Landon Lewis and Lincoln Fuller run wild. Lewis went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Fuller went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave Fuller a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Miller, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Marshall kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hastings only managed three hits.
Marshall's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Hastings, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.
Marshall will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Saxons: the pair will be back at it again later today.
