Preview: Hay Springs Hawks vs. Morrill Lions
Hay Springs has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Tuesday. They will square off against the Morrill Lions. Hopefully Hay Springs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday.
Even though Hay Springs has not done well against Arthur County recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way. Hay Springs came out on top against Arthur County by a score of 37-25.
Hay Springs' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mya Turman led the charge by scoring 11 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Twarling, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Meanwhile, Morrill came up short against Leyton on Saturday and fell 62-51. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Morrill in their matchups with Leyton: they've now lost three in a row.
The opposite results left the teams with opposite records: Hay Springs' win pushed their record up to 2-0, while Arthur County's defeat dropped theirs down to 0-2.
Hay Springs didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Morrill when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 50-46 win. Will Hay Springs repeat their success, or does Morrill have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
