Football Game Preview: Corsicana Tigers vs. Ennis Lions

Corsicana hasn't had much luck against Ennis recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Lions at 7:00 p.m. Corsicana has given up an average of 27.2 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Corsicana is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 35 points last Thursday, they were much more limited against Midlothian Heritage on Friday. They had to suffer through a 48-10 loss at the hands of the Jaguars. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-10.

Meanwhile, Ennis beat Poteet 29-22 on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by exactly seven points.

Corsicana better keep an eye on WENDERIUS JONES. He was instrumental in Ennis' win, rushing for 154 yards and four TDs. They are 4-1 when JONES posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Ennis proved: they limited Poteet to a paltry 3.3 yards per carry. The team can thank DAMION BAIZAR for the heroic effort on defense: he. Ennis didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.6.

Ennis' defense didn't let Isaiah Hall, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. BAIZAR was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last five times he's played. Ennis got some further help from Klijah Parker: he picked up 1.5 sacks and made nine total tackles (2.5 for loss).

Ennis is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for Corsicana, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Corsicana took a serious blow against Ennis in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 42-7. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
