Baseball Game Preview: Hobgood Charter Raiders vs. Jones Trojans

The Hobgood Charter Raiders will head out on the road to take on the Jones Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Jones took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Hobgood Charter, who comes in off a win.

Hobgood Charter is headed out to face Jones after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Hobgood Charter was the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over North East Carolina Prep on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Raiders as it put an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.

LUKE LANIER made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. LANIER was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Hobgood Charter got a big performance out of CARLOS MARTINEZ, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was LANDON DAVIS, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Hobgood Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North East Carolina Prep only posted an OBP of .176.

Meanwhile, Jones came up short against James Kenan on Thursday and fell 6-2. The game marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
