Basketball Recap: Savannah Brown's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Petersburg Catholic over Osceola

If St. Petersburg Catholic was riding high fresh off their 48-22 takedown of Patel last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The St. Petersburg Catholic Barons took a 25-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Osceola Warriors.

St. Petersburg Catholic's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Savannah Brown, who posted six points and six steals. Naomi Denmark was another key player, putting up seven points and six rebounds.

Osceola found their leader in freshman Evelyn Turner, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards. Isabella Snyder also deserves some recognition as she posted her first blocks of the season.

St. Petersburg Catholic has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Osceola, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-8.

St. Petersburg Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-20 win against Lakeside Christian on the 10th. Osceola has also already played their next game, a 58-31 victory against Tarpon Springs on the 13th.
