Recap: Malone Tigers vs. Chipley Tigers

After flying high against the Cottondale Hornets last Friday, the Malone Tigers came back down to earth. Malone was just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 40-39 to Chipley. While losing is never fun, Malone can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 387th, while Chipley is ranked 175th).

Chipley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sophie Whitaker out in front who scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Whitaker has scored all season. Addyson Suggs was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two blocks.

Malone's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Chipley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Malone won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Graceville at 4:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Graceville will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Chipley, they will head out on the road to take on South Walton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
