Volleyball Recap: Plainview Comes Up Short

If Plainview was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Hartington-Newcastle on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates fell just short of the Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard] Bobcats by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bobcats earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Plainview started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 20-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-16, 15-12.

Kaylee Thiele went supernova For Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard]., getting 26 digs and two aces. Thiele is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 15 or more in each of the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Wiese, who had nine digs and one assist.

Plainview's defeat dropped their record down to 18-10. As for Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard], the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-17.

Plainview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Summerland [Clearwater/Ewing/Orchard], they will square off against Crofton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup will give the Bobcats their first taste of in-conference action this season.
