Volleyball Recap: East Burke Takes a Loss

After flying high against Freedom on Thursday, East Burke came back down to earth. The Cavaliers came up short against the St. Stephens Indians on Monday, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cavaliers of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2017.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-15, 25-19.

Sydney Pyatte paced East Burke's offense, picking up five kills. Pyatte got some help from Carissa Towery and her six assists. Sarah Angel controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

East Burke now has a losing record of 1-2. As for St. Stephens, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Coming up, East Burke will challenge Freedom at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Stephens, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-1 defeat against Ashe County on the 19th.
