Soccer Game Preview: Cartersville vs. South Paulding

The Cartersville Hurricanes will head out on the road to challenge the South Paulding Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Cartersville came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to Model. While losing is never fun, Cartersville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 214th, while Model are ranked 37th).

Meanwhile, South Paulding managed to keep up with Kennesaw Mountain until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Spartans came up short against the Mustangs, falling 5-0.

Cartersville's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for South Paulding, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-7.

Cartersville took their victory against South Paulding in their previous meeting back in March of 2021 by a conclusive 4-0 score. Will the Hurricanes repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
