Baseball Recap: Lake Stevens Triumphs

The Lake Stevens Vikings came out on top against the Burlington-Edison Tigers on Friday by a score of 3-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Luke Morris tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Lake Stevens' victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Blake Moser, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-1. That's the most runs Moser has posted since back in March of 2024. Another was Aspen Alexander, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Lake Stevens now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Burlington-Edison, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.

Looking ahead, Lake Stevens will be playing in front of their home fans against Shorewood at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Shorewood's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Lake Stevens' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Burlington-Edison, they will challenge Nooksack Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
