Recap: Calallen vs. Needville

When you finish with 183 more yards than your opponent, a favorable outcome is sure to follow. Calallen had enough points to win and then some against Needville on Thursday, taking their contest 61-41.

Calallen got off to a slow start in their previous match, but they had no such trouble against Needville and cruised to a 28-point first half. Needville came up with 27 to make it 28-27 heading into the break. The offense for Calallen continued to do well in the second half, scoring another 33 points to put the game away.

No one put up better numbers for Calallen than senior A.J. Brown, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 253 yards and 4 touchdowns. One of the most memorable plays of the match was Brown's 53-yard touchdown rush in the second quarter. Calallen also supplied one of the game's most exciting moments in the form of sophomore Justice McClure and his 60-yard punt return for touchdown in third quarter. The victory bumped their record up to 2-1. The defeat dropped Needville's record to 2-1.

Calallen will have some time to rest before their next game, which is against Floresville in two weeks at 7:30 PM. Needville will be staying on the road next week, facing off against Yoakum. Yoakum will need to watch out since Needville have now posted big point totals in their last three contests.
