Baseball Recap: Genesee Bulldogs vs. Kendrick Tigers
Genesee had lost five straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 7-14-1 to make it six. They came up short against the Kendrick Tigers, falling 15-3. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, with their most recent loss being a 14-4 defeat on Friday.
Genesee saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Bollman, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Kendrick, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by seven runs or more this season.
On Kendrick's side, Morgan Boyer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Boyer has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gunnar Holland, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jayden Brammer also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
While Genesee had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
