Basketball Recap: Northwood Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Northwood can now relate to. They took a 59-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars on Tuesday. The Chargers have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

SouthWest Edgecombe got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aaliyah Whitehead out in front who to rack up 18 points and six steals. The dominant performance also gave Whitehead a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (75%). Another player making a difference was Deniya Mayo, who en route to 18 points.

Northwood's loss dropped their record down to 18-8. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, their win bumped their record up to 20-3.

Northwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for SouthWest Edgecombe, they will square off against Fairmont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fairmont will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something SouthWest Edgecombe surely won't give up without a fight.
