Baseball Game Preview: Bertie Falcons vs. North East Carolina Prep Husky

Bertie and North East Carolina Prep are an even 3-3 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Falcons will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Husky at 6:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Last Thursday, Bertie didn't have quite enough to beat Gates County and fell 3-2.

Messiah White put in work no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over six innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

White wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tayvien Ward, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, North East Carolina Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 7-0 to Tarboro.

North East Carolina Prep's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Bertie, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Bertie skirted past North East Carolina Prep 7-6 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Husky have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
