Softball Recap: Bountiful Wins High-Profile Match Against Grantsville

Bountiful faced Grantsville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The RedHawks were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Cowboys. Considering the RedHawks have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Ella Miller made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Claire Yates, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Kamryn Rasmussen also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Bountiful always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .520. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grantsville only posted an OBP of .267.

Bountiful pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Grantsville, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-7.

Looking ahead, Bountiful will be taking part in a tournament against Stansbury at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Stallions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.61 runs per game on average), something the RedHawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Grantsville, they will challenge Bear River at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
