Basketball Recap: Monarch Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Monarch posted their closest win since February 9, 2024 on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Fairview Knights, sneaking past 63-60. The Coyotes haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Logan Laverty continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 13-for-25 en route to 34 points along with six rebounds and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last four games he's played. Aden Clark also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Monarch was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairview only racked up eight assists.

When it comes to explaining why Fairview lost, don't look at Spencer Brown. Despite the final result, he posted 27 points and five boards. Brown continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Toray Davis was another key player, going 6-for-10 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds.

Monarch pushed their record up to 12-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points over those games. As for Fairview, their loss dropped their record down to 16-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monarch will take on Silver Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fairview, they will face off against Arvada West at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Arvada West is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 71.9 points per game this season.
