Softball Game Preview: Francis Parker Lancers vs. Mission Bay Buccaneers

The Francis Parker Lancers will take on the Mission Bay Buccaneers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Francis Parker has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with four straight defeats, while Mission Bay will come in with five straight wins.

Francis Parker lost 12-1 to Escondido Charter on Thursday.

Meanwhile, while Mission Bay put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Morse. The Buccaneers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Tigers 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Buccaneers have posted since April 30, 2024.

Abby Nelson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Nelson wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Evie Horton, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Mission Bay's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Francis Parker, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.

Francis Parker came out on top in a nail-biter against Mission Bay in their previous meeting back in March of 2017, sneaking past 7-6. Do the Lancers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Buccaneers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
