Basketball Recap: Dixie Comes Up Short

Dixie and Great Falls squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Dixie had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Red Devils, falling 64-25. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while the Red Devils are ranked 91st).

When it comes to explaining why Dixie lost, don't look at Jaylia Turner. Despite the final result, she posted nine points.

Great Falls found their leader in Makenzie Beatty, who put up 28 points. The contest was Beatty's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Page, who earned 11 points.

Dixie has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season. As for Great Falls, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3.

Dixie does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Great Falls, they will challenge Ridge Spring-Monetta at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
