Baseball Recap: Rusk Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Thursday. Rusk fell just short of New Diana by a score of 7-6. Rusk's defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Rusk got a good showing from Logan Hoot, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hoot has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hunter Eckel was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those runs marked the first that he has scored this season. Another player making a difference was Ross Davis, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Rusk's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for New Diana, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Looking ahead, Rusk will take on Hughes Springs in a tournament on Friday. As for New Diana, they will be taking part in a tournament against Henderson at 9:00 a.m. on Friday.
