Preview: Clarke Prep Gators vs. Morgan Academy Senators
Clarke Prep is 0-4 against Morgan Academy since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Clarke Prep Gators will be playing at home against the Morgan Academy Senators at 5:00 p.m. Clarke Prep comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
Last Friday, Clarke Prep was the victim of a rough 51-31 loss at the hands of Bessemer Academy. Clarke Prep has struggled against Bessemer Academy recently, as their game on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Morgan Academy suffered their biggest loss since November 17, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Fort Dale Academy at home and fell 69-42. Morgan Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Morgan Academy saw an underclassman step up: CJ Christopher Williams scored 17 points along with six assists and three steals. Williams hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Barron Frazer, who scored four points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Clarke Prep's loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-8. As for Morgan Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
Clarke Prep was dealt a bruising 66-28 loss at the hands of Morgan Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Clarke Prep was down 39-19.
